Performance review:

"This performance before a large and enthusiastic audience is the opening gesture of Stubbs' chamber opera company.....St. James Cathedral is a place where there is extraordinary music and music-theater. So it comes as no surprise that a piece like this should work so effectively. The action took place around the altar. The small orchestra was off to one side, and singers and dancers made their entrances and exits to and from a variety of aisles and corners.....In addition to superb lighting, there was Anna Mansbridge's inventive stage direction and choreography. The difficulties of theatre in the round did not hamper Mansbridge's imagination but stimulated it, which gave life to what could have been static in someone else's hands.....Given Stubbs' international credentials and reputation, it is not surprising the musical standards he revealed in this production were high.....He chose his singers carefully: They were, in general, young and earnest in their delivery, sensitive to period style and able to adapt to their surroundings. What a notable beginning."

Audience Feedback of Cavalieri

"The performance of the work by Cavalieri last night was magnificent. The singing, music, costumes, and use of the setting were superb"

"I'm writing to tell how much I enjoyed the performance last evening at St. James Cathedral. I hope you will be able to present more of this. I noticed a camera. Will you have a video available for purchase? If you have an email list, please add my name, thank you."
- John Ferguson, November 18, 2007

"Wow! What an amazing performance...My students loved the show and were enthralled by the music and I am so glad we were able to come. They chattered about it the entire way back to Bellingham. Best wishes on any future performances. It is a remarkable production."
- Debbie McMeel, November 18, 2007

"Thanks too, for giving me the pleasure of seeing this wonderful performance!...this piece was really stunning, and I think having it in the Cathedral enhanced the effect for me. In some ways, it's such a shame it only gets performed that one time!"
